Why am I celebrating the New Year in February?!

Okay, if you’re not familiar with the Chinese custom then it’s no surprise that you might think it’s weird. But did you know that the Chinese from around the world observe the Chinese Lunar New Year as the most important holiday celebration in the calendar?

This traditional holiday is mostly celebrated in Asia though Chinese abroad observe this holiday too.

During this festive season, it is common for the Chinese people to practice the “New Year visits” - visiting family friends and relatives. The traditional Chinese people usually wear new clothes and buy new things for the house, and married couples give the young “Ang Paos” (or red packets) containing money.

Hmmm… Interesting, isn’t it?

As I am writing this, I am taking a rest from the hustles of city life in my peaceful home (yep, that’s how I intend to spend my Chinese New Year Holiday! ) While the Chinese New Year officially begins on 7th February this year, I’ve decided to celebrate it online TODAY.
