Just recently, I got news that ClickBank had opened up service to a few more countries including Malaysia (woo hoo!) and now it’s 2CheckOut’s turn to provide the good news.
As you probably know, you need to pay $49.95 to open an account with 2CheckOut. But this coming Tuesday (6th May) they’re going to make an exception and give away free accounts.
FOR REAL.
Here’s a quote from their news blog:
This coming Tuesday, May 6, 2Checkout will be deploying a new currency processing solution for Vendor Account Signups.
As an incentive for you to try it out, we will refund the signup fee for anyone who chooses to pay for their signup using a Visa or MasterCard and a currency other than US Dollars!
This incentive program will be run from 10am-10pm EST on Tuesday, May 6 and all currency signups placed within that timeframe will be refunded within the following 5 business days.
You can read the full post here on their website:

This coming Tuesday, go grab your account with 2CheckOut, everyone!

Thanks Edmond, it’s great to know that. I’m in the USA and my credit cards deal in US Dollars so what do I have to do Convert through visa??? I wanted to set up an account there for my health product.

Good news indeed, Ed -
Unfortunately, I too and US only.
Any chance they might open up the offer
to US residents? With US money?

Hi Edmond,
So when we Malaysian register, we need to choose MYR instead of USD?
I’m not familiar with 2CO. Is it another Paypal?
Hi Mel and Lee,
Good question. I didn’t think about it at all and am not sure myself. I posted a question comment on the 2CO Blog to fish for answers from the staff. We’ll hear from them soon.
Zulkef,
Very likely yes. That’s what I am going to do given the option. 2CheckOut is another famous payment processor, usually mentioned in the same breath with PayPal and ClickBank.
In layman, 2CO also accepts payments from major credit / debit cards and even PayPal itself. When you make sales, you would receive your payments by wire every Thursday. Unlike PayPal and ClickBank, they’ve always been opened to Malaysians for as long as I can remember.
Drawbacks though, are that you need to open a new 2CO account for products in every new domain name, and you cannot use 2CO funds to pay your affiliates their commissions directly.
Hope my insights help.
thanks for this info.
so in this case..is it better to register MYR as the currency..or to choose other more common currency e.g. Euro or GBP?..since exchange rates for both of this would benefit against the ringgit?
Yea Edmond..is it better with MYR or Euro or GBP?
Can I open 2 accounts at once? Do I need two different domains then? I only have one domain.
Hi Guys,
Got a reply from the 2CO staff on their blog. Here’s what they say:
“We will provide separate URLs for each currency as an addition to this post rather than adding in currency flags during the signup process. You will select the currency link for the currency you wish to pay in.
Please note: If you are a US vendor, and you use one of these currency links, we will refund the signup, but the purchase and refund amounts may not match exactly due to your bank’s handling of the currency amounts.”
So basically, you just need to sign up using any currency other than US Dollars, and with a VISA/Mastercard Credit Card. Thus even if you’re a US citizen this arrangement will work too.
Zulkef,
It’s up to your preference. I’m personally planning to get two more. While I understand one account fits one domain name, if I recalled it correctly you don’t require a domain name yet when you register (can be filled in later).
Edmond,
Why do we need more than 1 acct? Any benefits to this strategy?
I already sign up for one acct. I’m wondering if I should sign up for more?
Should I apply for paypal merchant acct too now? Is it better to have both option paypal and 2 checkout in teh sales page?
Zulkef,
No it’s actually up to you if you want to sign up more than one account. As said, 2CO restricts one account to one domain name. If you sell products on different domain names then this advisable to snap up. But if you sell multiple products on one domain name then one account would suffice.
Re. PayPal - yeah would be a good plus to have if you’re doing an affiliate program because most affiliates opt to be paid via PayPal.
I love it!
