3 Steps Towards Becoming A Productive Internet Marketer

There are pros and cons of being a full time Internet marketer - most notably time management.

When you are being your own boss, you can decide when or where you want to work - you are in charge and there is no boss to tell you what to do.

On the other side of the coin, because you have no boss, there is no one to push you around and you might wind up becoming unproductive! In fact, when you have all the time in the world, you might wind up not utilizing the time productively!

Here are 3 tips on how you can greatly increase your productivity as an Internet marketer:

(1) Motivation will only get you started but habits are the ones that will keep you going in the long run

Many people feel motivated to start projects. They get ideas for this great niche. Some start profitable partnerships and things seem to be going really well at the start. But as time goes on, the drudgery of work takes its toll and they feel that they are not as productive and as motivated as they used to be.

If you don’t want to fall into the false motivation trap, the only way you can keep going especially when the going gets rough is to develop a work schedule that you can follow. That will be the time you will focus 100% on your work - even when the world is crumbling around you. Once your body gets used to the momentum of working during a certain time doing the day, you will automatically function at full capacity during that time and you will achieve tremendous results.

(2) Don’t do projects alone

Human beings are designed to interact with one another. Even if you can pull off your own projects or create niche sites effectively, you may find that partnering with someone and sharing profits can actually be more productive when both (or everyone in the partnership) are operating according to the same wavelength.

Synergy is created when people work together and they move in one direction.

Even if two people share 50/50, the amount of work accomplished is often more than the sum of the parts.

Furthermore, having partners to kick your butt when you are slacking off is also another way to motivate yourself to work harder.

(3) Always have cash flow

When you are just starting out, cash flow might be a problem especially when you don’t have projects that are bringing in consistent income every month. I would recommend a person’s decision making (when it comes to business) options to be based on two levels:

- The cash flow phase

When you have little funds, you must be careful not to let your lack of cash flow distract you by making all the wrong decisions. Your decision making process may be skewed towards making ‘quick money’. Although making quick money in nothing wrong in and of itself, it however comes at the cost of long term goals when you are hesitant to invest time and money for the long haul.

When you are in the cash flow phase, you should focus on doing projects that will generate you ‘enough’ cash.

Take projects that generates fast cash such as freelancing for others (as a writer, graphics designer, etc), or projects that build up your cash flow within 1-2 months.

When you have enough funds, then you can move into a different phase.

- The long term business building phase

Once you have enough cash flow, you can use one of the most powerful methods known to Internet marketers - outsourcing.

Not only will you be able to accomplish more, you can also leverage on other things such as paid traffic (PPC) to test campaigns easily and see what keywords are profitable.

You can also invest into software that automates your tasks for you.

Best of all, you don’t have to worry about making ‘today’s’ money because it has all been taken cared of.

Once you are clear which phase you are in, you will become more productive because it is not good to build a big business when you are having cash flow problems.

The most successful home based business owners do not do everything by themselves. They utilize huge teams of people to help them in areas of their business they may not be very proficient in.

Allen, thanks for the compliment :)

Walker, you’re right. You definitely need capable people in your team - Donald Trump once said, “Hire people who are better than you, but don’t trust them” ;)
